Welcome to The Interhouse Tennis Club. We are a members club established in 1888 and originally based in the parishes of Strathblane, New Kilpatrick, Baldernock, Campsie and Killearn. Membership criteria originally stated that members should be no further than a 1 hour carriage ride from each other. The boundaries were subsequently extended by virtue of the motor car, to include those of Kilmaronock, Kippen and Aberfoyle. Our claim (unsubstantiated) is that we are the oldest private members tennis club in the UK.

The house is the member not the individual, so any resident of the house may play. Membership is limited to 50 houses, with new members proposed annually by the existing membership. There are still one or two founding houses whose membership remains unbroken to this day…..just.

Each year we hold a number of tournaments;

- The Interhouse: Mixed doubles

- The Ballindalloch Trophy: A plate competition for the Interhouse

- Ladies and men's singles

- Ladies and men's doubles

- A junior tournament for U15’s and U18s.

All the tournaments are played on members courts.

Standards vary and while there is a natural competitiveness to matches, the club spirit is firmly one of social tennis, with a sprinkle of eccentricity and a dash of gin and French.

A visitors tournament is held at the end of August to introduce friends and potential members to the club. In the evening this is followed by the club's biggest social event of the year, a dinner dance (The Din Dan) at a member's house.
